Governor Greg Abbott today appeared on Fox News' "America's News HQ" to discuss Texas' efforts to block the Obama Administration's Syrian refugee resettlement program and ensure the safety of Texas citizens. On November 17th, Governor Abbott sent a letter instructing the Texas Department of Public Safety to work with federal and local officials to ensure any refugees already in Texas do not pose a risk to public safety.
"What the national intelligence leaders are telling us is that Syrian refugees could be embedded with those who are ISIS terrorists," Governor Abbott said in the interview. "It's our responsibility, for me as Governor of the State of Texas and for all leaders in this nation, to ensure that we put national security and the security of our fellow Americans first."
